Martial Arts, Sports & Athletic Development

Over our years of working with kids we have seen that when a child is confident in their athletic abilities it helps in all areas of their life – academically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Our goal for all of our kids is for them to be agile, coordinated and strong athletes who understand how to practice skills to mastery, cope with winning and losing and know how to persevere when the going gets tough.

Martial Arts & Self Defense Training

Master Roberto Torralbas started our Martial Arts programs for kids in 2008, when parents who were taking his adults classes approached him and asked him to start teaching their children, too. They had seen the tremendous benefits of discipline, focus, and mental and physical growth for themselves, and wanted their children to experience it to.

Kids who practice martial arts experience improvement in the following areas:

  • Athletic Development Skills: Agility, Coordination, Speed, Strength, Endurance
  • Life Skills: Focus, Discipline, Respect, Self Control
  • Confidence and Self Esteem
  • Realistic and Age-Appropriate Self Defense
  • Knowledge in our Martial Arts including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo, Muay Thai Kickboxing & Boxing

Gymnastics

Gymnastics techniques and exercises are included in our martial arts classes on a regular basis because they provide important basic athletic development that is essential for all sports, including martial arts. Gymnasts develop tremendous upper body strength, agility and coordination, which helps in martial arts and all athletic endeavors.

We also incorporate gymnastics exercises and games into our After School program activities and Summer Camp activities on a regular basis. Daily trampoline practice and tumbling mat practice is available to our students in our After School program when they are done with their homework, along with more focused practice when we do specific gymnastic-focused activities.

Our students have the opportunity to practice:

  • Tumbling (forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, etc.)
  • Bar Exercises
  • Olympic Rings
  • Trampoline Exercises
  • Inflatable Tumble Track Practice
  • Balance Beam

Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Football

Traditional sports are a part of all of our kids everyday lives, whether it is in PE class at school, pickup games in their neighborhood or serious play on organized teams. At Team Third Law, we want all of our athletes to feel confident joining in any game that their friends might be playing, and to be able to hold their own and play well. We know that socially, this is a tremendous boost in confidence for a child, and that physically, it is very healthy.

Our After School kids have the opportunity to play traditional sports including soccer, basketball, baseball and football every day in our fenced in, astro-turfed and shaded outside play area after their homework is done, and they play hard!

These extra hours of fun, physical and athletic practice boost their confidence, self esteem and help their bodies and minds stay healthy and clear.

We play:

  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Football

We play traditional games, do practice drills, and use football and baseball launching machines for sport-specific drills. We also have inflatables that encourage play and practice of all of these sports that are lots of fun!
